About this session
Join Appleton artist Ally Wilber in this one-of-a-kind workshop. You'll explore figure drawing through shadow, soot, and reductive mark-making using charcoal, erasure, and safe fire painting (fumage) demonstrations. Drawing from a live model, we’ll focus on pulling light from darkness - creating mood and movement instead of hard lines rigid realism. Expect smoke, strange curves, and an emphasis on atmosphere and intuition.
- Unclothed model (Must be 18+ years old to attend. If under 18 years old, must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and/or provide a consent form signed by a parent or guardian).
- The fire painting demonstration includes a small, controllable live flame and ample fire safety equipment and procedures
What to bring
All materials are provided including paper, charcoal, erasers, and special fumage materials. Tables, chairs, and a few easels and drawing boards are available in the classroom.
